CAIRO: Egypt's former Minister of Communications traveled to France on Monday despite a travel ban issued by the public prosecutor's office. Cairo Airport authorities allowed former minister Tarek Kamel to France for medical treatment. The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), currently charged with Egypt's administration, allowed Kamel to travel because he was in a critical medical condition according to an airport source, reported Egyptian daily al-Shorouk and the DPA. Egypt's public prosecutor has issued travel bans on several former ministers, officials, and businessmen, including former president Hosni Mubarak and his family. Former Minister of Finance Youssef Boutros Ghali left Egypt before the ban was issued last month. Boutros Ghali is accused in connection with corruption cases, and the public prosecutor has officially appealed to Interpol to send him back to Egypt. BM
