Uber pledges $20 million direct investment in Egypt until 2022
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 10 - 10 - 2017

U.S. taxi firm Uber pledges to pump $20 million in Egypt in form of direct investments over the next five years, said Abdellatif Waked, General Manager of Uber Egypt.
Uber plans to increase the number of experts in its centre of excellence in Egypt from 400 last September, to 600 at the end of this year and 750 in February, Waked further told Amwal Al Ghad on Tuesday.
Uber announced Sunday the launch of its centre of excellence in Cairo, providing a first-class support experience to all Uber customers, drivers and riders, in the Middle East and Africa.
It is the first centre for Uber in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, serving as the support hub for 16 countries: United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Pakistan, Morocco, Egypt, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and South Africa.
Egypt has now the second biggest centre of excellence for Uber after the United States in terms of space, Waked said.
The centre is expected to generate more than 700 direct job opportunities by February 2018.
The centres of excellence are designed to further improve product and operations, with a core focus to provide specialised support for critical incidents that require immediate attention, via multiple channels–email, phone and social media to ensure seamless experience before, during and after the ride.
