Careem expanding business in Egypt

Careem, the region's leading app-based car booking service, continues to support economic growth and innovation in Egypt with the launch of Careem in Canal, the company's ride-sharing expansion into the Suez Canal area.
Careem in Canal app-based service in Suez, Port Said and Ismailia will create approximately 4,000 more jobs for locals in the Canal area and offer a convenient, safe and reliable means of transportation for residents. This latest expansion in Egypt brings Careem services to a total of 14 cities in the country with a current fleet operated by around 50,000 Captains nationwide.

Egypt is a strategic market for Careem and we're committed to ensuring our reliable, convenient and safe services are reaching as many Egyptians as possible across the country," said Ramy Kato, head of Careem Egypt Operations and vice president of Careem Care. "As we continue to expand in Egypt, moving closer and closer to our goal of reaching 150,000 captains in Egypt by the end of the year, we recognise the ways in which we've helped change lives through job creation and economic growth. Ride hailing is a necessary service in Egypt with a huge growth potential. We're looking forward to further developing the transportation industry in Egypt and beyond."
Careem in Canal is the company's most recent expansion in Egypt as the company continues to move forward with its ambitious growth plans for the local market creating tens of thousands of jobs for more Egyptians.
Careem's services are now available in Cairo, Alexandria – and North Coast during the summer as part of Alex, Hurghada – and Gouna as part of Hurghada, eight Delta cities: Mahalla, Banha, Damnhour, Mansoura, Tanta, Kafr El Dawar (Behira), Damietta, and Zagazig, in addition to the Careem in Canal cities; Suez, Port Said and Ismailia.
Careem has delivered tens of millions of rides with an ever-increasing fleet since launching in Egypt in 2014. Contributing to job creation in every market in which it operates is a top priority for Careem. The company has grown its fleet of captains to 50,000 delivering millions of rides across Egypt.
Currently, Careem's office in Egypt employs around 150 people in addition to 800 customer service agents in Careem Care. The company plans to reach around 200 employees in Careem Egypt plus 1,000 Careem Care agents by end of 2017. In addition, Careem provided 42,000 drivers of white taxi cabs with the opportunity to be part of Careem's fleet by joining our app as of September 2016 in accordance with global Careem criteria and standards.
