Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 12 - 03 - 2016

Italy-based Eni has announced that its Zohr 2X appraisal well in the Shorouk block offshore Egypt has delivered up to 44 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (Mscfd) during production tests.
At the time of performing tests, 120m of the reservoir was opened to production.
Following collection and evaluation of the comprehensive set of data it was proved that the well has a good production capacity estimated in a deliverability of up to 250Mscfd in production configuration.
Eni has further plans to drill another three further wells on the Zohr field in the Mediterranean Sea this year.
Works on the onshore gas treatment plant construction have already started, with bids for the offshore activities launched and close to completion.
Through its subsidiary International Egyptian Oil Company (IEOC), Eni holds 100% stake of Shorouk licence.
Operations will be performed by Petrobel, a joint venture between IEOC and the state partner Egyptian General Petroleum (EGPC).
In February 2016, Eni completed the authorisation process for development of Zohr natural gas field, which is estimated to hold up to 30 trillion cubic feet of gas.
Eni said that the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources approved the grant from by the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) of the development lease.
The Zohr field lies in an area of 100km2 and in water depths of 1,450m. It has a total gas of around 850 billion cubic metres.
