DGP calls on Egypt to condemn US attacks on Syria
Published in Albawaba on 07 - 04 - 2017

Chairman of the Democratic Generation Party (DGP) Naji Al-Shihabi urged Friday the Egyptian government to condemn the US attacks that targeted a Syrian air base in Ash Sha'irat near Homs late Thursday.
Al-Shihabi said in a statement the US missile attack of 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles on Ash Sha'irat air base, which thwarted an attack by Israeli aircrafts two weeks ago, is a terrorist act in favor of Israel and against the Charter of the United Nations.
He demanded the US would be held accountable for its actions, claiming that it has established itself as the world's policeman, describing the attack as an aggression that violates all international laws and sends false messages to terrorist groups, which have chemical weapons in their arsenal.
"Unfortunately, spies and traitors cheered and welcomed the US aggression, while the Arab nation is silent, as if it is waiting to see who will be targeted next," the statement read.
The party chairman warned against Western and Zionist plans to plug the Middle East region into chaos, and gain control of the region and the fate of regional countries, such as Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
He added the Arab League has become a tool in the hands of the US and NATO, over the past 10 years.
"Will it (Arab League) remain silent towards the US raid for so long?! Why did not Egypt invite the Security Council to hold a session to discuss the US aggression like Bolivia or the new relationship with the US as an ally prevents us from doing our duty towards our brothers?" he wondered.
The United States launched 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles at a Syrian air base in Ash Sha'irat near Homs late Thursday. US President Donald Trump said that the attack was a response to the alleged chemical attack by the Syrian army on Idlib, on Tuesday، which the US blames on the Syrian regime.
