Giza Criminal Court will resume Saturday trial of 739 Muslim Brotherhood (MB) terrorist group members in the case publicly known as Rabia Square sit-in dispersal case. The defendants, including MB Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie and the son of ousted president Mohamed Morsi, Osama face charges of joining a an outlawed group, which targets state officials، policemen and army personnel، as well as conspiring against the state. The defendants are also charged with inciting violence and riots، assaulting people، blocking roads, targeting public and private properties. They also face charges of seizing weapons in order to spread chaos, in addition to attacking personal freedoms and attempted murder. After the ouster of Morsi in the aftermath of June 30، 2013 revolution، which saw mass protests across the nation demanding his removal، MB staged a sit-in at Rabia Square to demand his reinstatement. The Egyptian army and police have been carrying out an ongoing military campaign against terrorist groups affiliated to MB in Sinai، after they had claimed responsibility for several attacks targeting Egyptian military and police personnel، as retaliation for his ouster.
