Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi received Christine Lagarde, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF); to discuss cooperation between the government and IMF to support Egypt in achieving sustainable development goals 2030. During the meeting, Al-Sisi praised WB cooperation with Egyptian government in executing economic reform program, asserting on cooperation in technical support field, and in increasing efforts in social programs and social protection networks for low-income groups, Presidential spokesperson Alaa Yossef said. The president praised Egyptians on their patience and understanding over the last economic procedures despite their difficulties; believing of the significance of economic reform and the importance of effective dealing with chronic economic problems. The president also expressed his keenness on providing suitable business climate and attracting foreign investment with the aim of raising growth rate along with decreasing unemployment and public debt; exposing that Egypt already had started that by a series of legislative and administrative reforms alongside with a full bureaucratic facilitations for investors. On the other hand, Lagarde lauds courageous decisions that were taken to address structural imbalances in the economy. She also lauds steps, taken by the Egyptian government, in the progress process of implementing economic reform program, asserting on IMF eagerness to cooperate with Egypt and to provide it with required support to obtain success in its program.
