Egypt's Presidential Amnesty committee receives declarations of repentance
Published in Albawaba on 08 - 02 - 2017

Cairo - Tarek Al-Khouly, member of Presidency's Amnesty Committee, revealed that he has received a set of "repentance declarations" from some imprisoned Muslim Brotherhood members, who have renounced the organization.
He emphasized that he will submit them to the Presidency institution.
Many have been arrested over the last three years, some seek another chance to be pardoned and acquited to return to their normal life.
Al-Bawaba News Portal came to know from its sources that names of those who declared their 'repentance' have not been enrolled in the lists of Presidencial Amnesty as it has been decided that those declarations should be looked into slowly after conducting accurate investigations to make sure that they are not "Brotherhood" evasions to gain time so that they could get out from prison.
Coincidentally, a source in the Muslim Brotherhood group disclose to "AlBawaba" that there is a strong intention of the Brotherhood youth in prisons to submit repentance declarations after the great rifts that had occurred within the group and because they felt that the old leadership presided by "Mahmoud Ezzat" had abandoned them. Previously, Brotherhood group leaders signed repentance declarations in return for releasing them from prison promising not to practice any activities related to the Brotherhood. One of them was "Khaled Al-Kazzaz, the assistance of the overthrown president, ‘Mohamed Morsi', who renounced the group and any political work related to them and travelled to Canada. Other two Muslim Brotherhood leaders, ‘Hamdy Ebeid' and ‘Ismail Ashour' in addition to a number of young men in the governorates submitted their repentance declarations.
Those Brotherhood repentance declarations appeared by the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015 inside the Suez prison. ‘Atef Galal', a famous lawyer from Suez (a governorate in Egypt), in cooperation with ‘Mokhtar Nouh', the dissident leader from the Muslim Brotherhood, took over collecting these declarations but the Ministry of Interior at that time refused to recognize these declarations and insisted in conducting the prosecution procedures and in imprisoning those Brotherhood youth. In the prison of Gamsa (a northern Egyptian coastal town on the Mediterranean), there were other declarations under the leadership of ‘Hany Amer' with whom "AlBawaba" succeeded to hold a press interview with him and he asserted that there is a great insurgence among the Brotherhood members inside prison after they had ignored those imprisoned for them and they had stopped sending salaries to their families and so they decided to raise the banner of disobedience and to promise to show allegiance to the State and to its political regime as soon as their repentance was accepted. In the prison of Tura (an area in South Cairo), there were about 150 repentance declarations submitted by the Brotherhood youth last year. "Gaafar Al-Zaafarani', the son of the prominent Brotherhood Leader ‘Ibrahim Al-Zaafarani' who has been arrested nowadays and has been imprisoned in "Tura" prison for participating in the Brotherhood machinations.
The various courts witnessed multiple repentance audio repentance declarations not written ones as most of those accused by being affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood hailed the name of President Al-sisi and denounced the terrorist group and its guide, ‘Mohamed Badei' who were the cause of their imprisonment.
