Cairo - Egypt's foreign Affairs Ministry asserted on Egypt' role to bring Libyan parties together to reach consensus and achieve stability in war-torn Libya. In a statement, the ministry said : In line with the efforts Egypt exerts to bring together the brethren in Libya and to reach consensus among all parties on ways to settle the Libyan crises, His Excellency Mr. Fayez Al-Sarraj, chairman of the Presidency Council met on Wednesday with Lieutenant General Mahmoud Hegazy, chief of staff of the Egyptian armed forces, with the presence of the members of the Libyan delegation and the Egyptian Committee on Libya. The meeting had thorough and detailed discussions on the current situation in Libya, and tackled efforts made by both sides to reach consensual solutions that are premised on the broad outlines of the political agreement, and revolve around the core issues, in order to overcome current obstacles and constraints, in context with the series of intensive meetings hosted by Egypt. Mr. Al-Sarraj expressed deep appreciation and gratitude to Egypt for its grand efforts to restore national cohesion in Libya. He also affirmed his support for Egypt's transparent efforts in the security field, which come in line with the responsibility it always undertakes and the special relations that binds it with Libya. The relations that stem from the historic and geographical realities, and the discernible and strong ties between the peoples of the two countries. Affirming his keenness to push forward the political process and to break with the current political impasse, the chairman of the Presidency Council stressed that inevitability of the dialogue between the Libyans, and reiterated his position of not being a part of any confrontation between them. Mr. Sarraj also welcomed the efforts of the House of Representatives to tackle the concerns and the core points of the political agreement, and stressed the necessity to negotiate them in a consensual spirit that upholds the national interest against any narrow interests, without any exclusion or marginalization, so as to preserve the territorial integrity of Libya and the lives of its people, and rebuild the State's structures.
