Cairo criminal court resumed Saturday trial of 213 militants of Islamic State offshoot in the Sinai Peninsula on charges of assassination of police officers، attempted assassination of interior minister Mohamed Ibrahim and explosions near security facilities. Late attorney general، Hisham Brakat، had imposed media gag order over the trial، but the court lifted the gag over court sessions and upheld it over testimonies and investigations. The prosecution also accused the defendants of setting up and joining terror group، assaulting the citizens' rights and freedoms، undermining the national unity and social peace، espionage with Hamas، sabotage and homicide. The militants, members of the Province of Sinai, have sworn allegiance to the self proclaimed Islamic State terror group.
