Parliament Office Authority headed by Ali Abdel Aal rejected Tuesday the request to lift the parliamentary immunity of parliamentarian and columnist Abdel Rahim Ali for not meeting the conditions, Al-Bawaba News reported. The request was submitted by the Attorney General, Nabil Sadeq due to the lawsuit filed against the "Al-Bawaba" newspaper over an opinion article published in June 2015 entitled "Muslim Brotherhood orator controls Al-Azhar and Rehab city mosques". Al-Bawaba institution's legal advisor, Yahya Al-Dayasty said that Arabic language teacher at the Al-Azhar University's Faculty of Islamic Studies, Rabie Gomaa Mohammed filed a lawsuit against the opinion article writer, Mostafa Hamza and the newspaper's Editor in Chief, Abdel Rahim Ali for insulting him in the article. Dayasty added that the Attorney General sent a request on May 16, 2016 to Parliament speaker, Ali Abdel Aal to take legal actions against Abdel Rahim Ali, but the parliament decided to hold the request for not meeting the conditions.
