Egyptian MP Aabdel Rehim Ali criticized the meeting held by senior journalists at the office of the state-owned Al-Ahram newspaper that demanded an urgent syndicate general assembly to withdraw confidence from the current syndicate board. "If you want to withdraw confidence from the chairman of the syndicate, then gather at the syndicate's headquarters, not Al-Ahram," Ali said, "Why you are afraid to go to your syndicate?" The meeting was attended by a number of editors-in-chief of privately owned and state-owned newspapers, including Makram Mohamed Ahmed, the former syndicate chief during the Mubarak era.
