Egyptian MP Abdel Rehim Ali said that Saudi Foreign Minister, Adel Al-Jubeir denied any tense in relations between both countries over the issue of Tiran and Sanafir islands, Al-Bawaba News reported. "In his meeting with Egyptian authors and journalists in the Saudi Embassy in Cairo, Al-Jubeir affirmed that Saudi Arabia did not demand the presence of Egyptian troops in the two islands, but asked for political support which Egypt, immediately, responded to," Aly added. Al-Jubeir as well pointed out that Egyptian governments, since the time of late Egyptian King Farouk till the late president Sadat, did not claim that both islands were Egyptian territories, while it is globally claimed that they are Saudi lands, Ali explained. "Certain political agendas trying to benefit the situation in time when the successful visit of the Saudi monarch thwarted their aims to defame relations between both countries," Ali added. Regarding regional situations, Al-Jubeir stressed both countries share same situation towards UN's resolutions demanding the step-down of Bashar Al-Assad calling on new constitution and presidential elections in Syria. He signaled his country's anti-Farsi expansion. On his side, Ali called for establishing an independent Egyptian-Saudi joint media council that includes journalists, authors and media figures whom will work on maintaining mistaken information that would appear between both countries.
