President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi met Tuesday with newly elected Secretary General of Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit at the presidential palace, Al Bawaba News reported. Al Sisi stressed during the meeting on the important role of the Arab League, especially in light of the multiplicity of crises experienced by a number of Arab countries. He pointed out that the Arab league has a vital role to play in enhancing efforts to mobilize regional and international efforts to address the threat of terrorism and extremism, which forms a threat to Arab national security. The president also emphasized, on Egypt's aspiration to pursue the Arab League's efforts to promote economic cooperation between the Arab countries and activate the relevant Arab conventions. Additionally, he called for Arab countries to unite efforts in order to support and enhance the spirit of solidarity between Arab peoples, as well as the mobilization of Arab efforts to deal with social problems and challenges, such as unemployment, illiteracy, poverty and inadequate social services. The president called for continued efforts to empower women and youth, as well as enhance their role in Arab societies.
