The world woke up this morning to an incident was predicted to end up with a catastrophe, but it winded up to be an idiot, non-understandable incident, which is the hijacking of EgyptAir's MS181 flight, that landed at Larnaca Airport upon the request of the hijacker.
Cypriot authorities put an end to this operation by arresting the alleged kidnapper, Sayf al-Din Mustafa.
When you follow up the story you will figure out that there are gaps in the reports of media, and lots of unanswered questions, and here is the sequence of events:
1. hijacked Egyptian jet lands at Larnaca Airport
2. kidnapper releases the Egyptian and keeps five foreigners and the crew on board
3. publishing distorted photo of the hijacker
4. British Embassy confirms that it has citizens on board
5. Identifying the kidnapper as Ibrahim Samaha and that he a veterinarian and professor at the University of Atlantis
6. Cypriot President ruled out that the hijacking is a terrorist act, and confirms that emotional reasons are behind it
7. Reports suggest that the hijacker wanted to see his ex-wife and already published photo of the woman and her name and emphasize that she is on her way to the airport to meet the hijacker
8. Samaha's wife emphasizes that her husband is among the hostages and denies his involving in the incident
9. Egyptian Aviation Minister holds press conference at which he disclosed the kidnapper's identity and the nationality of the hostages, indicating that it is not known if the hijacker has already explosive belt or not
10. Egyptian Cabinet revealed the identity of the kidnapper as Sayf al-Din Mustafa, not Samaha
11. The cabinet's spokesperson apologized to Ibrahim Samaha
12. Cypriot radio indicated that the kidnapper has requested to release Egyptian female prisoners, and not to extradite him to Egypt
13. Israeli air lifted a state of maximum readiness following the incident
14. Reports published a photo of the kidnapper with real explosive belt
15. Reports emphasized that the kidnapper desired to go to Istanbul but insufficient fuel forced the jet to land in Cyprus
16. Reports claimed that the kidnapper asked to provide the plane with fuel and head to Turkey
17. The last hostages left the jet
18. Cypriot authorities arrest the hijacker
Questions need answers
1. Why media used Ibrahim Samaha's name without physical evidence?
2. Who is the woman who went to the airport and media posted her photo as his ex-wife?
3. Why did he choose Istanbul specifically?
4. Why did he release Egyptians and kept foreigners on board?
5. What is the nationality of the foreigners on the plane and whether it's related to the Israeli Air Force movement, and why did the minister refused to reveal their nationality?
