Minister of Transportation, Sa'ad el-Geioushy said that the maritime transportation will become one of economy's pillars with contribution of the private sector, during current phase, Al-Bawaba News reported Sunday. The minister made this statement to reporters upon his return to Cairo coming from London, where he attended the International Maritime Organization (IMO), of which Egypt was elected by 130 votes to become a member in IMO's executive board. El-Geioushy explained that the ministry of foreign affairs and Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT), have spent a lot of efforts over several months in order to achieve such accomplishment. He pointed out that countries such as Turkey and Iran, who have a larger fleet than the Egyptian fleet were not elected.
