President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi met Friday with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly Summit, said Presidential spokesperson Alaa Yousef. Yousef said that Sisi stressed on the importance of the Egyptian-German relationship, praising the role played by German companies in Egypt's development process. The Presidential spokesperson added that Sisi expressed Egypt's appreciation for the German role in dealing with the refugee crisis as Germany agreed to receive a huge number of them. For her part, Merkel praised the coordination between Egyptian and Germany in political and economic fields, congratulating Sisi on the completion of the new Suez Canal project. Merkel pointed out that her country supports the international cooperation in order to solve the refugee crisis not only the refugee of Mediterranean countries, but also African countries refugee. Yousef added that Sisi and Merkel discussed a number of regional and international issues, as well as discussing Egypt's anti-terrorism efforts.
