The resolution of the ongoing crisis in Syria and struggle against terrorism will be among the main problems under discussion during Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi's visit to Russia on Tuesday, local media reported, citing military sources. Sisi and Russian officials will also discuss military cooperation, according to the newspaper Al Arab. The Egyptian president is expected to visit Russia on August 25-27. During his visit, the president is expected to hold talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and Russian senior officials to discuss various bilateral issues, according to the Kremlin. Following the visit of Russian leader Putin to Egypt in February 2015, the sides agreed to boost military, trade, security and economic cooperation. On late Monday, it was announced Sisi would meet with speaker of the lower house of the Russian parliament Sergei Naryshkin to discuss inter-parliamentary cooperation. Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with government forces fighting against so-called moderate opposition as well as extremist groups, including the notorious ISIS. Russia has been engaged in international efforts to find a political solution to the ongoing conflict in Syria, as well as providing humanitarian aid to the people of the conflict-torn country.
