The Endowment Ministry held a forum Tuesday to discuss the renewal of the religious discourse in Egypt, Daily News reported. Officials and public figures attended the forum, including Sports Minister Khaled Abdel Aziz, ex-Culture Minister Gaber Asfour and a number of Islamic scholars and professors. The forum stressed on the need to improve the religious discourse to combat extremist ideas and counter terrorism. "The religious edicts [fatwa] should evolve from one era to another. The religious scholars' role is to improve on fatwas to make them more compatible with the present times," Religious Endowments Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa said.
