The polling station of Al Wafd Party's supreme body elections has closed its doors Friday at the main headquarters in Dokki district, Al Bawaba News reported. The elections came amid clashes between the Party's Chairperson Al Sayed Al Badawy and the so-called Reform Front led by the leading member Fouad Badrawy. Badawy decided to suspend the eight members of Wafd's supreme body and referred them to the investigations, as they accused him of corruption. On Wednesday, President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi met with El Badawy and the leaders of the suspended board members, including secretary general of the party, Fouad Badrawy, in an attempt to put an end to the party's crisis. President Sisi stressed the importance of discarding conflicts ahead of the country's parliamentary elections which came amid huge challenges that face Egypt recently. On his part, El Badawy affirmed that the party's leaders are committed to resolve Al Wafd's internal problems, pointing out that the suspended members are welcome again in the party. Similar internal clashes took place between Al Wafd members whenever the internal elections approaches. In 2007, the party witnessed a huge confrontation between Al Wafd's former heads Mahmoud Abaza and Noaman Gomaa, leading to the burning of the party headquarters and several members were injured.
