Bomb disposal officers defused early Friday three improvised explosive devices near a car market in Nasr city, eastern Cairo. No casualties have been reported. Security forces were scanning nearby streets in preparation for the visit of General Osama Bedier, chief of the Cairo Security Directorate, when they found the explosive packages. Bomb squad officers and civil security units were deployed to the scene to inspect the area. The attack is the latest in a series of similar incidents targeting police personnel and checkpoints in several parts of the country.
