Egypt's Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry met Thursday with his Russian counterpart, Sergi Lavrov for talks over the regional affairs. Spokesperson of the foreign ministry, Ambassador Badr Abdel Atty confirmed that Russia supports the Egyptian counter terrorism policies, adding that Lavrov expressed his country's initial approval to deploy naval forces to the Mediterranean Sea to prevent weapons' smuggling attempts. Abdel Atty added that the two ministers discussed the crisis in Libya and Iraq, and ways to boost the Libyan counter terrorism efforts, revealing that Shoukry invited Lavrov to the Egyptian economic summit, scheduled to be held in March.
