President of the Central African Republic (RCA) Catherine Samba-Panza and her accompanying delegation visited on Friday the new Suez Canal Project to discuss ways of cooperation and investment in the canal. Mohab Mamish, head of the Suez Canal Authority, received Samba-Panza at the authority headquarter in Ismailia and joined her in an inspection tour at the digging site of the new Suez Canal Corridor. Mamish explained to Samba-Panza the plan of the new national project and its benefits to the region and the world, as well as the investment chances that it would provide in industrial, agricultural, commercial, and naval fields. He added that the digging rate after 132 days of work at the new Suez Canal Project reached 156 million cubic meters, noting that the new canal is expected to be open for ship navigation in early August 2015. The President of the Central African Republic arrived to Cairo on Thursday morning on an official visit to meet with Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab. she discussed the joint cooperation between the two countries with Mahlab and signed a number of memorandums of understanding with the ministerial delegation accompanying her.
