THE INTERNATIONAL Squash Soho Square is currently taking place in the beautiful city of Sharm El-Sheikh. The one-week women's event, from 24 October to 1 November, witnesses the participation of the world's top ranked players from England, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Greece, the Czech Republic, Russia, Malaysia and Egypt. The championship is under the auspices of Mohamed Hani Metwalli, governor of South Sinai, Mamdouh El-Sheshtawi, Marketing director of the Savoy-Sharm Hotel, the tournament host, said a special glass court was installed at famed Soho Square which bears the tournament's name. The tournament is the second biggest international women's event in terms of prize money, worth $42,000. The preliminary round took place on Monday 26 October and Tuesday while the main draw began Wednesday and will continue until the final match next Sunday 1 November. The event will be attended by Andre Shiley, president of the Women's International Squash Association, and Assem Khalifa, president of both the Arab and Egyptian Squash Associations.
