UPDATED: Egypt's security forces storm Kerdasa, police officer killed
Security operation on the outskirts of Cairo to arrest suspects who killed around a dozen security personnel last month, one police officer killed

Egyptian security forces fired tear gas and exchanged gunfire with armed groups in the Guiza's Kerdasa district (15 km of Cairo) early on Thursday, state TV reported.
At least '28 gunmen and terrorists' have been arrested as police comb the area for suspects, Cairo investigation chief Mohamed Al-Sharkawy said.
Security troops stormed into the area to arrest people accused of torching police stations and killing about 11 security officers in clashes that erupted following the army's ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Morsi last July.
Police forces had not been allowed in Kerdasa since then. At least one police officer died in Thursday violence, state TV reported. General Nabil Farag, Guiza Security assistant director died from in Kerdasa operation from gun shots, Egypt TV Channel 1 announced early Tuesday.
It said police forces took control of the area and imposed a curfew. Morsi's exit was triggered by mass protests that led to violent counter protests nationwide.
Violence between his supporters and security forces included massive attacks on police stations, security officers and churches. Kerdasa, known for producing and selling fancy fabrics.
Kerdasa police station was abandoned after it was hit with rocket propelled grenades and gunfire on Aug. 14 - the same day security forces moved against protests by supporters of deposed President Mohamed Morsi..
The operation in Kerdasa comes after a similar crackdown was launched in the southern town of Delga in Minya province on Monday that was almost controlled by Morsi's supporters.Forces arrested 56 resident
