Arabian-themed Japanese animation to be released
The protagonist of a new Japanese animation series is based on the hero of one of folk tales in the Arabic One Thousand and One Nights
Published in Ahram Online on 15 - 07 - 2012

The manga (comic) series "Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic" will be adapted in an animated series to be released in Japan October 2012.
The protagonist of the series is based on Aladdin from "Aladdin and the Magic Lamp," and many of its themes are derived from Arabic folk tales, like Djins, Sindibad and Ali Baba.
Many characters have Arabic names, like members of the Fog Troupe who steal money from the rich to distribute to the poor. Their names include Hassan, Kassim and Zaynab.
The manga by Shinobu Otaka started serialisation in 2009.
