US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will be arriving to Cairo Saturday on her first official visit to Egypt sinceMohamed Morsiwas sworn in as Egypt's first freely-elected president.
Morsi is set to receive Clinton at the Foreign Ministry headquarters, where she would also hold talks with her Egyptian counterpart, Mohamed Kamel, according to Egypt's official news agency.
Clinton is also slated to attend a number of meetings Sunday to discuss political matters, after which she will head to the coastal city of Alexandria to deliver an address at the Alexandria Library and then head to inaugurate the opening of the US consulate in Alexandria.
Clinton's visit to Egypt comes amid mounting criticism by some quarters of the Muslim Brotherhood, of which Morsi was until recently a leading member, over the group's alleged connections with the US.
Since the 1970s, Egypt has been considered one of Washington's leading allies in the region. Eyes have been on Egyptian-US relations after the Islamist and first elected civilian president Morsi rose to power.
