These literary evenings are presented by the French Institute in Egypt and the Afka Arts Centre as part of the Ramadan Nights 2021 programme

Mon 26, 9pm: "The Taste of Books" is hosting the Egyptian writer Mansoura Ezz El-Din and the French novelist Anton Peraber in this seminar devoted to writing about "The Other Place." Anton Peraber is based in Cairo. His second novel, "Signs of Weakness that Appear in the Third Week of Fasting," which was recently published, he wrote it from Cairo's inspiration. As for Mansoura Ezz El-Din, she wrote many books, including "The Emerald Mountain," "A Flickering Light," and "The Shelter of Absence," which have been translated into several languages.
Ezz El-Din is returning from a literary residency at the International City of Arts in Paris, where she has prepared two books both inspired by her establishment and from the epidemic spreading across the world.
Tues 27, 9pm: "One Day" is a literary evening with Mohamed Jamal and Nael Al-Toukhi. One Day ... something happened that changed the course of life, but what exactly happened? This is the question posed to the young writers applying to the literary competition entitled "One Day" organized by the French Institute in Egypt and Mada Masr in 2019. Al-Toukhi called on the contestants to imagine a day that will happen to Egypt, or that it will happen to them, in the near or distant future, a day that will change their lives. You are invited to unveil the product of the imagination of the winners of the competition, among whom is Jamal, who returned from a literary residency in the City of Arts in Paris, to which his wonderful story Khedmatji brought him. Reading excerpts from the winning stories will allow you to discover the worlds of the winning creators.
