Smouha coach blames Egypt Cup final loss on referee, praises Zamalek's Mido Smouha coach Hamada Sedqy believes the referee's wrong decisions caused his team's loss of the Egypt Cup final against Zamalek
Smouha coach Hamada Sedqy blamed his team's loss of the Egypt Cup final game to Zamalek on referee Gehad Greisha, claiming the latter's dip in form throughout the game caused Smouha to lose the trophy. Promising Alexandrian team Smouha lost 1-0 to Zamalek in the Egypt Cup final game as they played with only a 10-man squad for the last 20 minutes of the match. Smouha were affected by the dismissal of midfielder Tarek Hamed, who was harshly sent-off for a second bookable offense on 70 minutes. "Referee Greisha wasn't on the game's performance. Choosing him to officiate at the game was a wrong decision," Smouha coach was quoted as saying on a television programme after the match. "He took several wrong decisions throughout the game, with the most consequential one being the dismissal of midfielder Tarek Hamed," he added. As Smouha finished the runners up of the Egyptian premier league, they will play in the African Champions League next term -- they are this season's surprise package for reaching the cup final. "I am happy for the players' performance despite losing the Egypt Cup," he added. "I congratulate Zamalek coach Mido for his tactics during the game," Sedqy said. "I promise Smouha will win next season's titles, despite having lost all the titles this season," the Smouha coach concluded.
